Plain English. No surprises.
Last updated: September 29, 2026.
Plain-English summary: I collect what you send me through the inquiry email template (name, email, role info, attached files). I use it to write your resume and reply to you. I don’t sell, share, or trade your information with anyone. You can ask me to delete it any time. That’s it.
1. Who I Am
Next Rank Careers (a careers practice of The J-Collective) is operated by Lindsay Jacobson, based in Jackson, Tennessee, United States. References to “I,” “me,” or “we” in this policy mean Next Rank Careers / Lindsay Jacobson. References to “you” mean the website visitor or client.
Intended Audience
Next Rank Careers serves clients located in the United States. The website and services are not directed to individuals in the European Union, the United Kingdom, or other jurisdictions outside the US. If you are located outside the US, please do not submit personal information through this site. By engaging the service, you represent that you are a US resident and at least 18 years of age.
2. What Information I Collect
When you use this website or engage me as a client, I may collect:
- Information you give me directly: name, email address, current role, target role, target job link, free-text messages, and any attached resume or job-description file you send through the inquiry email template, or by emailing me.
- Information from technical sources: basic visitor analytics (pages visited, approximate location at the country level, browser type) collected through Cloudflare, the platform that hosts this site. I do not use third-party advertising trackers or behavioral profiling cookies.
- Payment information: handled entirely by the payment processor you select (the card processor on your invoice, Apple Pay, PayPal, Venmo, Cash App, or Zelle). I never see or store your card or bank details.
3. How I Use Your Information
- To respond to your inquiry and write your resume, cover letter, or LinkedIn content
- To send you the deliverables you’ve paid for
- To follow up on engagements (revisions, questions, scheduling)
- To improve the website and service quality based on aggregated visitor patterns
4. Who I Share It With
No one, with three narrow exceptions:
- Service providers I use to run the business: email (Google Workspace), website hosting (Cloudflare), online intake questionnaires (Netlify), payment processors (card processing, Apple Pay, PayPal, Venmo, Cash App, and Zelle). These providers only see the data they need to deliver their service.
- Anonymized portfolio samples: only with your explicit written permission. All names, employers, contact details, and identifying information are removed before any sample is published anywhere.
- Legal compliance: if required by valid US law (court order, subpoena, regulatory request).
I do not sell your information. I do not trade it. I do not share it with advertisers or marketing partners.
5. How Long I Keep It
Client engagement files (your original resume, deliverables, intake answers) are kept for up to 24 months after the engagement completes, long enough to support follow-up requests, revision tweaks, or reference resumes for future engagements. After that, files are securely deleted unless you’ve asked me to retain them longer.
Inquiry emails that don’t become paid engagements are kept for up to 12 months, then deleted.
Note on financial records: Invoices, receipts, and payment records are retained separately for the period required by US tax law and IRS regulations (generally 7 years), regardless of any deletion request you may make. These records do not include the content of your resume or intake answers, only the financial transaction details.
6. Your Rights
Depending on where you live in the United States, you may have specific rights under laws like the CCPA (California) or other applicable state regulations. Regardless of your state of residence, you can:
- Ask what I have on you: I’ll send you a copy
- Ask me to correct anything inaccurate
- Ask me to delete it: and I will, unless I’m legally required to retain it (e.g., tax records)
Email lindsayjacobson@nextrankcareers.com with your request. I’ll respond within 30 days.
6A. California Residents: Your CCPA Rights
If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), as amended by the CPRA, provides you with the following rights:
- Right to know: what personal information I collect, use, and disclose about you
- Right to access: a copy of the personal information I hold about you
- Right to correct: inaccurate personal information
- Right to delete: your personal information, subject to legal retention requirements
- Right to opt out of sale or sharing: see below
- Right to non-discrimination: I will not deny services, charge different prices, or provide different quality of service because you exercised your CCPA rights
Categories of personal information I collect (per CCPA categories): identifiers (name, email); professional or employment information (work history, target roles); commercial information (services purchased); internet activity (basic site analytics).
Sources: directly from you; from your browser via Cloudflare analytics.
Business purposes for collection: delivering the services you request, responding to inquiries, basic site security and performance.
Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information: I do not sell or share your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising or any other purpose. There is nothing to opt out of, but I am affirming this clearly as required by California law.
To exercise any CCPA right, email lindsayjacobson@nextrankcareers.com with “CCPA Request” in the subject line. I will respond within 45 days.
7. Cookies & Tracking
This site uses essential cookies necessary for basic functionality (e.g., loading the page, remembering form input during your session). Cloudflare, the hosting platform, may set cookies for site security and load balancing. I do not use third-party advertising trackers, retargeting pixels, or behavioral analytics cookies.
7A. Data Security & Breach Notification
I take reasonable steps to protect your personal information, including using reputable service providers (Google Workspace, Cloudflare, established payment processors) and limiting access to your data to what’s needed to deliver the service. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but I treat your information with care.
In the unlikely event of a data breach affecting your personal information, I will notify you without unreasonable delay, in accordance with applicable state and federal law, and will provide information about what was affected and what steps (if any) you should take.
8. Age Requirement
Next Rank Careers’ services are intended for adults aged 18 or older. The site and services are not directed to children, and I do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe someone under 18 has submitted information through this site, please contact me at lindsayjacobson@nextrankcareers.com and I will delete it promptly.
9. Updates To This Policy
If this policy changes materially, the “Last updated” date at the top will change and active clients will be notified by email. Continued use of the site after an update means you accept the revised policy.
